I didn't live in a temple when I brought my people out of Egypt, and I don't live in one now. A tent has always been my home wherever I have gone with them.

and the priests could not go in.

I love the temple where you live, and where your glory shines.

But before daylight the LORD looked down at the Egyptian army from the fiery cloud and made them panic.

Aaron was speaking to them, when everyone looked out towards the desert and saw the bright glory of the LORD in a cloud.

I also want them to build a special place where I can live among my people.

Then they would bow down because a thick cloud would come down in front of the tent, and the LORD would speak to Moses face to face, just like a friend. Afterwards, Moses would return to camp, but his young assistant Joshua would stay at the tent.

Our holy God lives for ever in the highest heavens, and this is what he says: Though I live high above in the holy place, I am here to help those who are humble and depend only on me.

As they shouted, the doorposts of the temple shook, and the temple was filled with smoke.

and the brightness of the LORD's glory moved from above the creatures and stopped at the entrance of the temple. The entire temple was filled with his glory, and the courtyard was dazzling bright.

I will shake the nations, and their treasures will be brought here. Then the brightness of my glory will fill this temple.

and I promise that this new temple will be more glorious than the first one. I will also bless this city with peace.

Whenever Moses needed to talk with the LORD, he went into the sacred tent, where he heard the LORD's voice coming from between the two winged creatures above the lid of the sacred chest.

They are the descendants of Israel, and they are also God's chosen people. God showed them his glory. He made agreements with them and gave them his Law. The temple is theirs and so are the promises that God made to them.

The temple quickly filled with smoke from the glory and power of God. No one could enter it until the seven angels had finished pouring out the seven last troubles.

I heard a loud voice shout from the throne: God's home is now with his people. He will live with them, and they will be his own. Yes, God will make his home among his people.
