So do your work in honour of him and know that he won't allow you to be unfair to anyone or to take bribes.

When my servants complained against me, I was fair to them.

It's wrong to favour the guilty and keep the innocent from getting justice.

Don't take advantage of the poor or cheat them in court.

Drinking makes you forget your responsibilities, and you ill-treat the poor.

Don't be surprised if the poor of your country are abused, and injustice takes the place of justice. After all, the lower officials must do what the higher ones order them to do.

You accept bribes to let the guilty go free, and you cheat the innocent out of a fair trial.

and prosperous, but you refuse to help the poor get the justice they deserve.

And you'll find they are hard like bronze and iron. They are stubborn rebels, always spreading lies.

Stop taking advantage of foreigners, orphans, and widows. Don't kill innocent people. And stop worshipping other gods.

Be fair, no matter who is on trial—don't favour either the poor or the rich.

The LORD All-Powerful said: I'm now on my way to judge you. And I will quickly condemn all who practise witchcraft or cheat in marriage or tell lies in court or rob workers of their pay or ill-treat widows and orphans or steal the property of foreigners or refuse to respect me.

But they were not like their father. They were dishonest and accepted bribes to give unfair decisions.
