Many years later a new king came to power. He did not know what Joseph had done for Egypt,

where Moses told him everything the LORD had done to protect Israel against the Egyptians and their king. He also told him how the LORD had helped them in all their troubles.

My people have begged for my help, and I have seen how cruel the Egyptians are to them.

and everyone believed. They bowed down and worshipped the LORD because they knew that he had seen their suffering and was going to help them.

But I will tell them, “I will have nothing to do with you! Get out of my sight, you evil people!”

“What the Lord has done for me will keep people from looking down on me.”

With my own eyes I have seen the suffering of my people in Egypt. I have heard their groans and have come down to rescue them. Now I am sending you back to Egypt.”

We called out for help to you, the LORD God of our ancestors. You heard our cries; you knew we were in trouble and abused.

“LORD All-Powerful, I am your servant, but I am so miserable! Please let me have a son. I will give him to you for as long as he lives, and his hair will never be cut.”
