Mount Sinai was covered with smoke because the LORD had come down in a flaming fire. Smoke poured out of the mountain just like a furnace, and the whole mountain shook.

But when the LORD came down to look at the city and the tower,

Some time after sunset, when it was very dark, a smoking cooking pot and a flaming fire went between the two halves of each animal.

Moses led them out of the camp to meet God, and they stood at the foot of the mountain.

Moses did so and stayed there forty days and nights. To the people, the LORD's glory looked like a blazing fire on top of the mountain.

There an angel of the LORD appeared to him from a burning bush. Moses saw that the bush was on fire, but it was not burning up.

Be ready tomorrow morning to come up Mount Sinai and meet me at the top.

As they shouted, the doorposts of the temple shook, and the temple was filled with smoke.

Rip the heavens apart! Come down, LORD; make the mountains tremble.

When you stopped, the earth shook; when you stared, nations trembled; when you walked along your ancient paths, eternal mountains and hills crumbled and collapsed.

Then you people will escape from the LORD's mountain, through this valley, which reaches to Azal. You will run in all directions, just as everyone did when the earthquake struck in the time of King Uzziah of Judah. Afterwards, the LORD my God will appear with his holy angels.

Nations and kingdoms will go to war against each other. People will starve to death, and in some places there will be earthquakes.

The LORD came from Mount Sinai. From Edom, he gave light to his people, and his glory was shining from Mount Paran. Thousands of his warriors were with him, and fire was at his right hand.

When we were gathered on the mountain, the LORD spoke to us in a loud voice from the dark fiery cloud. The LORD gave us these commands, and only these. Then he wrote them on two flat stones and gave them to me.

The LORD himself spoke to you out of the fire,

but he will give you relief from your troubles. He will do the same for us, when the Lord Jesus comes from heaven with his powerful angels

and with a flaming fire. Our Lord Jesus will punish anyone who doesn't know God and won't obey his message.

You have not come to a place like Mount Sinai that can be seen and touched. There is no flaming fire or dark cloud or storm

When God spoke the first time, his voice shook only the earth. This time he has promised to shake the earth once again, and heaven too.

The day of the Lord's return will surprise us like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a loud noise, and the heat will melt the whole universe. Then the earth and everything on it will be seen for what they are.

The temple quickly filled with smoke from the glory and power of God. No one could enter it until the seven angels had finished pouring out the seven last troubles.

As it opened the tunnel, smoke poured out like the smoke of a great furnace. The sun and the air turned dark because of the smoke.
