Jethro was the priest of Midian and the father-in-law of Moses. And he heard what the LORD God had done for Moses and his people, after rescuing them from Egypt.

When the Lord rescued his chosen people from Egypt, they celebrated with songs.

Remember his miracles and all his wonders and his fair decisions.

No one can praise you enough for all the mighty things you have done.

With all my heart, I will praise the LORD. Let all who are helpless, listen and be glad.

Our God, our ancestors told us what wonders you worked and we listened carefully.

Moses agreed to stay on with Jethro, who later let his daughter Zipporah marry Moses.

One day, Moses was taking care of the sheep and goats of his father-in-law Jethro, the priest of Midian, and Moses decided to lead them across the desert to Sinai, the holy mountain.

Moses went to his father-in-law Jethro and asked, “Please let me return to Egypt to see if any of my people are still alive.” “All right,” Jethro replied. “I hope all goes well.”

Here is my message for Israel: “I am the LORD! And with my mighty power I will punish the Egyptians and free you from slavery.

When that happens, all nations on earth will see the good things I have done for Jerusalem, and how I have given it complete peace. The nations will celebrate and praise and honour me, but they will also tremble with fear.

When this happens, ten people from nations with different languages will grab a Jew by his clothes and say, “Let us go with you. We've heard that God is on your side.” I, the LORD All-Powerful, have spoken!

Hobab the Midianite, the father-in-law of Moses, was there. And Moses said to him, “We're leaving for the place the LORD has promised us. He has said that all will go well for us. So come along, and we will make sure that all goes well for you.”

After arriving in Antioch, they called the church together. They told the people what God had helped them do and how he had made it possible for the Gentiles to believe.

Everyone kept quiet and listened as Barnabas and Paul told how God had given them the power to perform a lot of miracles and wonders for the Gentiles.

In fact, all I will talk about is how Christ let me speak and work, so that the Gentiles would obey him.

We heard how the LORD dried up the Red Sea so you could leave Egypt. And we heard how you destroyed Sihon and Og, those two Amorite kings east of the River Jordan.

We are your servants, and we live far from here. We came because the LORD your God is so famous. We heard what the LORD did in Egypt

The people who belonged to the Kenite clan were the descendants of the father-in-law of Moses. They left Jericho with the people of Judah and settled near Arad in the Southern Desert of Judah not far from the Amalekites.

At this time, Heber of the Kenite clan was living near the village of Oak in Zaanannim, not far from Kedesh. The Kenites were descendants of Hobab, the father-in-law of Moses, but Heber had moved and had set up his tents away from the rest of the clan.
