he told them that the LORD had said, “Tomorrow is the Sabbath, a sacred day of rest in honour of me. So gather all you want to bake or boil, and make sure you save enough for tomorrow.”

At Sinai you came down from heaven, and you gave your people good laws and teachings that are fair and honest.

You commanded them to respect your holy Sabbath, and you instructed your servant Moses to teach them your laws.

Moses told them not to keep any overnight.

Work the first six days of the week, but rest and relax on the seventh day. This law is not only for you, but for your oxen, donkeys, and slaves, as well as for any foreigners among you.

You have six days when you can do your work, but the seventh day of each week is holy because it belongs to me. No matter where you live, you must rest on the Sabbath and come together for worship. This law will never change.

The manna was like small whitish seeds

and tasted like something baked with sweet olive oil. It appeared at night with the dew. In the morning the people would collect the manna, grind or crush it into flour, then boil it and make it into thin wafers.

Then they went to prepare some sweet-smelling spices for his burial. But on the Sabbath they rested, as the Law of Moses commands.

Show respect for the Sabbath Day—it belongs to me.

On the Lord's day the Spirit took control of me, and behind me I heard a loud voice that sounded like a trumpet.
