Meanwhile, the people of Moab had heard that the three kings were coming to attack them. They had called together all their fighting men, from the youngest to the oldest, and these troops were now standing at their border, ready for battle.

Kindness and justice were my coat and hat;

Honesty and fairness will be his royal robes.

Justice was the LORD's armour; saving power was his helmet; anger and revenge were his clothes.

Be ready and keep your lamps burning

Night is almost over, and day will soon appear. We must stop behaving as people do in the dark and be ready to live in the light.

We have spoken the truth, and God's power has worked in us. In all our struggles we have said and done only what is right.

and make your light shine. Be good and honest and truthful,

So put on all the armour that God gives. Then when that evil day comes, you will be able to defend yourself. And when the battle is over, you will still be standing firm.

But we belong to the day. So we must stay sober and let our faith and love be like a suit of armour. Our firm hope that we will be saved is our helmet.

Be alert and think straight. Put all your hope in how kind God will be to you when Jesus Christ appears.

In my vision their riders wore fiery red, dark blue, and yellow armour on their chests. The heads of the horses looked like lions, with fire and smoke and sulphur coming out of their mouths.

On their chests they wore armour made of iron. Their wings roared like an army of horse-drawn chariots rushing into battle.
