2 Chronicles 5:2

The sacred chest had been kept on Mount Zion, also known as the city of David. But Solomon decided to have the chest moved to the temple while everyone was in Jerusalem to celebrate the Festival of Shelters during the seventh month. Solomon called together all the important leaders of Israel.

David told his troops, “You will have to go up through the water tunnel to get those Jebusites. I hate people like them who can't walk or see.” That's why there is still a rule that says, “Only people who can walk and see are allowed in the temple.” David captured the fortress on Mount Zion, then he moved there and named it David's City. He had the city rebuilt, starting with the landfill to the east.

David had several buildings built in Jerusalem, and he had a tent set up where the sacred chest would be kept.

He said to them, “You are the leaders of the clans in the Levi tribe. You and your relatives must first go through the ceremony to make yourselves clean and acceptable to the LORD. Then you may carry the sacred chest that belongs to the LORD God of Israel and bring it to the place I have prepared for it.

David, the leaders of Israel, and the army commanders were very happy as they went to Obed-Edom's house to get the sacred chest.

Next, David invited everyone to come to Jerusalem and watch the sacred chest being carried to the place he had set up for it.

They put the sacred chest inside the tent that David had set up for it, then they offered sacrifices to please the LORD and sacrifices to ask his blessing.

Each one was assigned his duties in the same way that their relatives the priests had been assigned their duties. David, Zadok, Ahimelech, and the family leaders of the priests and Levites were the witnesses.

As each group was assigned their duties, Shemaiah the son of Nethanel the Levite wrote down the name of the family leader in charge of that group. The witnesses were David and his officials, as well as Zadok the priest, Ahimelech the son of Abiathar, and the family leaders from the clans of the priests and the Levites.

Shelomoth and his relatives were in charge of all the gifts that were dedicated to the LORD. These included the gifts that King David had dedicated, as well as those dedicated by the family leaders, army officers, and army commanders.

David called a meeting in Jerusalem for all Israel's leaders, including the tribal leaders, the government officials, the army commanders, the officials in charge of the royal property and livestock, the palace officials, and the brave warriors.

After the LORD's temple was finished, Solomon put in its storage rooms everything that his father David had dedicated to the LORD, including the gold and silver, and the objects used in worship.

and he loves that city more than any other place in all of Israel.

After the animals and the grain had been brought to the front of the sacred tent, and the people were standing there in the presence of the LORD,

The people of Israel began their journey from Mount Sinai. They travelled three days, and the Levites who carried the sacred chest led the way, so the LORD could show them where to camp.

And when they stopped to set up camp, he would pray, “Our LORD, stay close to Israel's thousands and thousands of people.”
