That's how it is with us. There are many of us, but we are each part of the body of Christ, as well as part of one another.

Do we destroy the Law by our faith? Not at all! We make it even more powerful.

But the answer is, “No.” Otherwise, how could God judge the world?

What does all this mean? Does it mean we are free to sin, because we are ruled by God's wonderful kindness and not by the Law? Certainly not!

No, we should not! If we are dead to sin, how can we go on sinning?

Am I saying that something good caused my death? Certainly not! It was sin that killed me by using something good. Now we can see how terrible and evil sin really is.

Does this mean that the Law is sinful? Certainly not! But if it had not been for the Law, I would not have known what sin is really like. For example, I would not have known what it means to want something that belongs to someone else, unless the Law had told me not to do that.

Now I want you to know that Christ is the head over all men, and a man is the head over a woman. But God is the head over Christ.

Together you are the body of Christ. Each one of you is part of his body.

You also say, “Food is meant for our bodies, and our bodies are meant for food.” But I tell you that God will destroy them both. We are not supposed to do indecent things with our bodies. We are to use them for the Lord who is in charge of our bodies.

But anyone who is joined to the Lord is one in spirit with him.

You know that your body is a temple where the Holy Spirit lives. The Spirit is in you and is a gift from God. You are no longer your own.

Don't you know that we will judge angels? And if that is so, we can surely judge everyday matters.

When we Jews started looking for a way to please God, we discovered that we are sinners too. Does this mean that Christ is the one who makes us sinners? No, it doesn't!

Does the Law disagree with God's promises? No, it doesn't! If any law could give life to us, we could become acceptable to God by obeying that law.

But I will never boast about anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. Because of his cross, the world is dead as far as I am concerned, and I am dead as far as the world is concerned.

so that his people would learn to serve and his body would grow strong.

A husband is the head of his wife, as Christ is the head and the Saviour of the church, which is his own body.

because we are each part of his body.

They are no longer part of Christ, who is the head of the whole body. Christ gives the body its strength, and he uses its joints and muscles to hold it together, as it grows by the power of God.
