But when your son becomes king, I will give him peace throughout his kingdom. His name will be Solomon, because during his rule I will keep Israel safe and peaceful.

Go and say to David, “You promised me that Solomon would be the next king. So why is Adonijah now king?”

“You know that I was king for a little while,” Adonijah replied. “And everyone in Israel accepted me as their ruler. But the LORD wanted my brother to be king, so now things have changed.

LORD God, I'm your servant, and you've made me king in my father's place. But I'm very young and know so little about being a leader.

There were so many people living in Judah and Israel while Solomon was king that they seemed like grains of sand on a beach. Everyone had enough to eat and drink, and they were happy.

Solomon ruled the whole region west of the River Euphrates, from Tiphsah to Gaza, and he was at peace with all the countries around him.

Everyone living in Israel, from the town of Dan in the north to Beersheba in the south, was safe as long as Solomon lived. Each family sat undisturbed beneath its own grapevines and fig trees.

Now, thanks to the LORD God, there is peace in my kingdom and no trouble or threat of war anywhere.

Praise the LORD! He has kept his promise and given us peace. Every good thing he promised to his servant Moses has happened.

I'll choose one of your sons to be king when you reach the end of your life and are buried beside your ancestors. I'll make him a strong ruler,

David said: The LORD our God has helped me defeat all the people who lived here before us, and he has given you peace from all your enemies. Now this land belongs to the LORD and his people.

My father David was your servant, and today you have kept every promise you made to him.

When God does nothing, can any person or nation find fault with him?

Please help the king to be honest and fair just like you, our God.

Let the king be fair with everyone, and let there be peace until the moon falls from the sky.

You will give us peace, LORD, because everything we have done was by your power.

I create light and darkness, happiness and sorrow. I, the LORD, do all of this.

start singing my praises. No matter where you are, I, the LORD, will heal you and give you peace.

The LORD has promised: “I will flood Jerusalem with the wealth of nations and make the city prosper. Zion will nurse you at her breast, carry you in her arms, and hold you in her lap.

and I promise that this new temple will be more glorious than the first one. I will also bless this city with peace.

Gideon built an altar for worshipping the LORD and called it “The LORD Calms our Fears”. It still stands there in Ophrah, a town in the territory of the Abiezer clan.
