Praise the LORD and pray in his name! Tell everyone what he has done.

David divided Aaron's descendants into groups, according to their assigned work. Zadok, one of Eleazar's descendants, and Ahimelech, one of Ithamar's descendants, helped David.

David and the temple officials chose the descendants of Asaph, Heman, and Jeduthun to be in charge of music. They were to praise the LORD by playing cymbals, harps and other stringed instruments. Here is a list of the musicians and their duties:

After King David had the sacred chest moved to Jerusalem, he appointed musicians from the Levi tribe to be in charge of the music at the place of worship.

When the builders had finished laying the foundation of the temple, the priests put on their robes and blew trumpets in honour of the LORD, while the Levites from the family of Asaph praised God with cymbals. All of them followed the instructions given years before by King David.

Hashabiah, Sherebiah, Jeshua son of Kadmiel, and their assistants organized two choirs of Levites to offer praises to God, just as King David, the man of God, had commanded.

With all my heart I praise the LORD! I will never forget how kind he has been.

Remember his miracles and all his wonders and his fair decisions.

LORD God of Israel, you deserve to be praised for ever and ever. Let everyone say, “Amen! Shout praises to the LORD!”

Don't be annoyed by anyone who does wrong, and don't envy them.

Save me, LORD God! Hurry and help.

LORD God of Israel, we praise you. Only you can work miracles.
