Psalm 42:1

AS THE hart pants and longs for the water brooks, so I pant and long for You, O God.

The sons of Kohath: Amminadab his son, Korah his son, Assir his son,

I opened my mouth and panted [with eager desire], for I longed for Your commandments.

WE HAVE heard with our ears, O God; our fathers have told us [what] work You did in their days, in the days of old.

MY HEART overflows with a goodly theme; I address my psalm to a King. My tongue is like the pen of a ready writer.

GOD IS our Refuge and Strength [mighty and impenetrable to temptation], a very present and well-proved help in trouble.

O CLAP your hands, all you peoples! Shout to God with the voice of triumph and songs of joy!

GREAT IS the Lord, and highly to be praised in the city of our God! His holy mountain,

HEAR THIS, all you peoples; give ear, all you inhabitants of the world,

Lord, YOU have [at last] been favorable and have dealt graciously with Your land [of Canaan]; You have brought back [from Babylon] the captives of Jacob.

ON THE holy hills stands the city [of Jerusalem and the temple] God founded.

O Lord, the God of my salvation, I have cried to You for help by day; at night I am in Your presence. [Luke 18:7.]

The sons of Korah: Assir, Elkanah, and Abiasaph. These are the families of the Korahites.

NOW KORAH son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, with Dathan and Abiram sons of Eliab, and On son of Peleth, sons of Reuben, took men,

And the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them and their households and [Korah and] all [his] men and all their possessions. [Num. 26:10, 11.]

But Korah's sons did not die.
