My son, hear the instruction of your father; reject not nor forsake the teaching of your mother.

I have not obeyed the voice of my teachers nor submitted and consented to those who instructed me.

My son, keep your father's [God-given] commandment and forsake not the law of [God] your mother [taught you]. [Eph. 6:1-3.]

MY SON, keep my words; lay up within you my commandments [for use when needed] and treasure them.

And we have obeyed the voice of Jonadab son of Rechab, our father, in all that he charged us, to drink no wine all our days–we, our wives, our sons, and our daughters–

If one man wrongs another, God will mediate for him; but if a man wrongs the Lord, who shall intercede for him? Yet they did not listen to their father, for it was the Lord's will to slay them.
