HEAR NOW what the Lord says: Arise, contend and plead your case before the mountains, and let the hills hear your voice.

THE MIGHTY One, God, the Lord, speaks and calls the earth from the rising of the sun to its setting.

He calls to the heavens above and to the earth, that He may judge His people:

Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth! For the Lord has spoken: I have nourished and brought up sons and have made them great and exalted, but they have rebelled against Me and broken away from Me.

The Lord stands up to contend, and stands to judge the peoples and His people.

Hear and give ear, do not be proud, for the Lord has spoken [says Jeremiah].

O land, land, land, hear the word of the Lord!

ALSO YOU, son of man, prophesy to the mountains of Israel and say, You mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord.

But you, O mountains of Israel, shall shoot forth your branches and yield your fruit to My people Israel, for they are soon to come [home].

Again He said to me, Prophesy to these bones and say to them, O you dry bones, hear the word of the Lord. [John 5:28.]

And say, You mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord God! Thus says the Lord God to the mountains and the hills, to the river ravines and the valleys: Behold, I, even I, will bring a sword upon you, and I will destroy your high places [of idolatrous worship],

HEAR THIS word that the Lord has spoken against you, O children of Israel, against the whole family which I brought up from the land of Egypt:

Hear, all you people; listen closely, O earth and all that is in it, and let the Lord God be witness among you and against you, the Lord from His holy temple. [I Kings 22:28.]

And the mountains shall melt under Him and the valleys shall be cleft like wax before the fire, like waters poured down a steep place.

And in anger and wrath I will execute vengeance upon the nations which would not obey [vengeance such as they have not heard of before].

Hear, O mountains, the Lord's controversy, and you strong and enduring foundations of the earth, for the Lord has a controversy (a pleading contention) with His people, and He will [pleadingly] contend with Israel.

He replied, I tell you that if these keep silent, the very stones will cry out. [Hab. 2:11.]

GIVE EAR, O heavens, and I [Moses] will speak; and let the earth hear the words of my mouth.

I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day that you shall soon utterly perish from the land which you are going over the Jordan to possess. You will not live long upon it but will be utterly destroyed.

Now present yourselves, that I may plead with you before the Lord concerning all the righteous acts of the Lord which He did for you and for your fathers.

Then Samuel said to Saul, Stop! I will tell you what the Lord said to me tonight. Saul said to him, Say on.
