Many plans are in a man's mind, but it is the Lord's purpose for him that will stand. [Job 23:13; Ps. 33:10, 11; Isa. 14:26, 27; 46:10; Acts 5:39; Heb. 6:17.]

Who is he who speaks and it comes to pass, if the Lord has not authorized and commanded it?

But when he was leaving them he said, I will return to you if God is willing, and he set sail from Ephesus.

I keep pleading that somehow by God's will I may now at last prosper and come to you.

So that by God's will I may subsequently come to you with joy (with a happy heart) and be refreshed [by the interval of rest] in your company.

For I am unwilling to see you right now [just] in passing, but I hope later to remain for some time with you, if the Lord permits.

But I will come to you [and] shortly, if the Lord is willing, and then I will perceive and understand not what the talk of these puffed up and arrogant spirits amount to, but their force (the moral power and excellence of soul they really possess).

If indeed God permits, we will [now] proceed [to advanced teaching].

But as it is, you boast [falsely] in your presumption and your self-conceit. All such boasting is wrong.
