Then the Jews retorted, What sign can You show us, seeing You do these things? [What sign, miracle, token, indication can You give us as evidence that You have authority and are commissioned to act in this way?]

For while Jews [demandingly] ask for signs and miracles and Greeks pursue philosophy and wisdom,

Gideon said to Him, If now I have found favor in Your sight, then show me a sign that it is You Who talks with me.

And what befalls your two sons, Hophni and Phinehas, shall be a sign to you–in one day they both shall die. [Fulfilled in I Sam. 4:17, 18.]
