He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows, acquainted with grief, One from whom people hide their faces. He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.


Then some of the Torah scholars and Pharisees answered Him, “Teacher, we want to see a sign from You.”


An evil and adulterous generation clamors for a sign, yet no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah.” And leaving them behind, He went away.


After looking around at them with anger, grieved by their hardness of heart, He says to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” And he stretched it out, and his hand was restored.


And He was astonished because of their unbelief. And He was going around among the villages teaching.


Looking up to heaven, He says to the man, “Ephphatha,” which means “Be opened!”


Leaving them, He got back into the boat and crossed to the other side.


And answering them, He said, “Oh faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring him to Me.”


As He drew near and saw Jerusalem, He wept over her,
