Then the earth opened up and swallowed Dathan, And covered the company of Aḇ


“Then they would have swallowed us alive, In their burning rage against us;


To Him who smote Mitsrayim in their first-born, For His kindness is everlasting;


But shook off Pharaoh and his army in the Sea of Reeds, For His kindness is everlasting;


And in Your kindness, Cut off my enemies. And destroy all the adversaries of my life, For I am Your servant!


You make them as a furnace of fire in the time of Your presence; יהוה  does swallow them up in His wrath, And fire does consume them.


When evil-doers come against me To eat up my flesh, My adversaries and my enemies, They shall stumble and fall.


Show me favour, O יהוה, for I am in distress; My eye, my being and my body have become old with grief!


Let them not say in their hearts, “Aha, our desire!” Let them not say, “We have swallowed him up.”


Would you indeed speak righteousness, in silence? Do you judge straightly, you sons of men?


Deliver me from my enemies, O my Elohim; Set me on high from those who rise up against me.


Elohim does go before me, He lets me look upon my enemies.


O Elohim, You have rejected us; You have broken us; You have been displeased; Turn back to us!


“Let us swallow them alive like the grave, And entirely, like those going down to the pit.


All your enemies have opened Their mouth against you; They have whistled and they gnash their teeth. They say, “We have swallowed her up! This is certainly the day we waited for; We have found it, we have seen it.”


יהוה  has swallowed up, without compassion, All the pastures of Yaʽ


יהוה  has been like an enemy. He has swallowed up Yisra’ĕ


And when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall come to be the word that has been written, “Death is swallowed up in overcoming.”


But the princes of the Philistines were wroth with him, and the princes of the Philistines said to him, “Send the man back, let him return to the place which you have appointed for him, and do not let him go down with us to battle, lest in the battle he become our adversary. For with what could he appease his master, if not with the heads of these men?
