The cords of death were around me, And the pains of the grave came upon me; I found distress and sorrow.


My enemies have reproached me, Like a crushing of my bones, While they say to me all day long, “Where is your Elohim?”


And my being has been greatly troubled; And You, O יהוה  – till when?


Reproach has broken my heart and I am sick; I looked for sympathy, but there was none; And for comforters, but I found none.


For my being is filled with evils, And my life draws near to the grave.
