Why do the gentiles rage, And the peoples meditate emptiness?


My enemies speak evil of me, “When he dies his name shall perish.”


Because of the noise of the enemy, Because of the outcry of the wrong; For they bring down wickedness upon me, And in wrath they hate me.


Reproach has broken my heart and I am sick; I looked for sympathy, but there was none; And for comforters, but I found none.


I have thought about the days of old, The years long past.


With which Your enemies have reproached, O יהוה, With which they have reproached the footsteps of Your anointed.


“And you shall leave your name as a curse to My chosen, for the Master יהוה  shall put you to death, and call His servants by another name,


‘And because of them all the exiles of Yehuḏ


But they were filled with folly, and were speaking with one another what they should do to יהושע.


“And punishing them often in all the congregations, I compelled them to blaspheme. And being exceedingly enraged against them, I persecuted them even to foreign cities.


And hearing this they were cut to the hearts and gnashed the teeth at him.


For even the Messiah did not please Himself, but, as it has been written, “The reproaches of those who reproached You fell upon Me.”
