But the sovereign of Mitsrayim said to them, “Mosheh and Aharon, why do you take the people from their work? Get back to your burdens.”


“In vain have I smitten your children – they received no instruction. Your sword has devoured your prophets like a destroying lion.


But Yirmeyahu said to them, “Say this to Tsiḏ


‘And it shall be, the nation and reign that do not serve Neḇ


and say to Yehoyaqim sovereign of Yehuḏ


Now Yirmeyahu was still coming and going among the people, for they had not yet put him in prison.


‘But if you do not surrender to the heads of the sovereign of Baḇ


“Thus said יהוה, ‘This city is certainly given into the hand of the sovereign of Baḇ


Then the heads said to the sovereign, “Please, let this man be put to death, because he is weakening the hands of the men of battle who are left in this city, and the hands of all the people, by speaking such words to them. For this man does not seek the peace of this people, but the evil.”


O יהוה, are Your eyes not on truth? You have smitten them, but they have not grieved. You have consumed them, but they have refused to receive instruction. They made their faces harder than rock, they refused to turn back.


“The yoke of my transgressions Has been bound by His hand, Woven together and thrust upon my neck. He has made my strength stumble, יהוה  has given me into hands Which I am unable to withstand.


but do not prophesy any more at Bĕ


and spoke to Him, saying, “Say to us, by what authority are You doing these? Or who is he who gave You this authority?”
