Snares, fire and brimstone, furious storms, on sinners he shall rain: This, as the portion of their cup, doth unto them pertain.


Let not an evil speaker be on earth established: Mischief shall hunt the vi'lent man, till he be ruined.


O happy is that man and blest, whom Jacob's God doth aid; Whose hope upon the Lord doth rest, and on his God is stay'd:


But in all those that do him fear the Lord doth pleasure take; In those that to his mercy do by hope themselves betake.


Their sorrows shall be multiply'd to other gods that haste: Of their drink-offerings of blood I will no off 'ring make; Yea, neither I their very names up in my lips will take.


Kiss ye the Son, lest in his ire ye perish from the way, If once his wrath begin to burn: bless'd all that on him stay.


O taste and see that God is good: who trusts in him is bless'd.


O blessed is the man whose trust upon the Lord relies; Respecting not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.


For, Lord, unto the righteous man thou wilt thy blessing yield: With favour thou wilt compass him about, as with a shield.


O thou that art the Lord of hosts, that man is truly blest, Who by assured confidence on thee alone doth rest.
