My beloved speaks and says to me: “Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away,


Catch us the foxes, the little foxes, that ruin the vineyards— for our vineyards are in blossom.”


I went down to the nut orchard to look at the blossoms of the valley, to see whether the vines had budded, whether the pomegranates were in bloom.


I said, “I will climb the palm tree and lay hold of its branches.” O may your breasts be like clusters of the vine, and the scent of your breath like apples,


For before the harvest, when the blossom is over and the flower becomes a ripening grape, he will cut off the shoots with pruning hooks, and the spreading branches he will hew away.


For as the earth brings forth its shoots and as a garden causes what is sown in it to spring up, so the Lord God will cause righteousness and praise to spring up before all the nations.


His shoots shall spread out; his beauty shall be like the olive tree and his fragrance like that of Lebanon.


Is there any seed left in the barn? Do the vine, the fig tree, the pomegranate, and the olive tree still yield nothing? From this day on I will bless you.”


“From the fig tree learn its lesson: as soon as its branch becomes tender and puts forth its leaves, you know that summer is near.


saying, “If you, even you, had only recognized on this day the things that make for peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes.


So we are ambassadors for Christ, since God is making his appeal through us; we entreat you on behalf of Christ: be reconciled to God.
