And this house that is so hye, shalbe a wonder to al that passeth therby, that they shall saye: why hath the Lorde dealte on thys fashyon with thys lande and with this house?


And Babylon (that glory of kingedomes and bewtye of the Caldees honoure) shalbe destroied, euen as God destroyed Sodome and Gomorra.


then shalte thou vse thys mockage vpon the Kynge of Babylon, and saye: Howe happeneth it, that the oppressoure leaueth of? Is the goulden trybute come to an ende?


all kynges towarde the North, whether they be farre or nye, euery one with his neyghboures: Ye and all the kyngdomes that are vpon the whole earth. The kynge of Sezach, sayde he, shal drincke with them also.


But howe shulde so worshipful and gloryous a citie be forsaken?


How happeneth it, that the hammer of the whole world is thus broken and brosed in sonder? Howe chaunceth it, that Babylon is become a wyldernes amonge the Heathen on this maner?


The noyse at the wynning of Babylon shall moue the earthe, & the crye shalbe hearde amonge the Gentyles.


Babilon shalt become an heape of stones a dwellinge place for dragons, a fearfulnes and wondrynge, because no man dwelleth there.


All they that dwell in the Iles are abashed at the, and all their kinges are afrayed, yea their faces haue chaunced colour.


& hathe delyuered the all thynges, that are amonge the children of men: the beastes of the feld, and the foules vnder the heauen, and geuen the dominyon ouer them al. Thou arte that golden head.


Euen thou (O kynge) arte the tre, great & stronge. Thy greatnesse increaseth, and reacheth vnto the heauen, so doth thy power to the endes of the earthe.


and sayde: Thys is the greate cytye of Babilon, which I my selfe (wyth my power & strengthe) haue made a kynges courte, for the honour of my magestye.


And thou shalt go to waste & be made an ensample, & a iestynge stocke vnto all nacyons whether the Lord shall carye the.
