and placed it in his new tomb which he had cut in the rock; and having rolled a large stone [against] the door of the tomb, he departed.


Pilate said to them, "You have a guard; go make it as secure as you know [how]."


Now while they were going, behold, some of the guard came into the city and reported to the chief priests everything that had happened.


And behold, a great earthquake occurred; for an angel of the Lord, having come down out of heaven, came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat on it.


And having looked up, they saw that the stone had been rolled away-for it was exceedingly large.


On the first day of the week Mary Magdalene went to the tomb early, while it was still dark, and saw that the stone had been taken away from the tomb.


Nevertheless the firm foundation of God stands, having this seal: "The Lord knows those that are His,"and, "Let everyone naming the name of the Lord depart from unrighteousness."


and he cast him into the bottomless pit, and locked and sealed [it] over him, so that he should deceive the nations no more until the thousand years were finished. [But] after these things he must be released for a short time.
