And going out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name. Him they pressed into service that he might carry His cross.


Then Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, "One thing you lack: Go, sell all that you have, and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, take up the cross, and follow Me."


And they pressed into service a certain [man] [that was] passing by [named] Simon, a Cyrenian, the father of Alexander and Rufus, as he was coming from the country, that he might carry His cross.


And having summoned the crowd together with His disciples, He said to them, "Whoever is willing to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.


And whoever does not bear his cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple.


And as they led Him away, they laid hold of a certain man, Simon a Cyrenian, [as he was] coming from the country, and on him they laid the cross, that he might carry it behind Jesus.


And bearing His cross, He went out to a place called the Place of a Skull, which is called in Hebrew, Golgotha,


But this He said, signifying by what kind of death he would glorify God. And when He had spoken this, He said to him, "Follow Me."


Jesus said to him, "If I will that he remain till I come, what is [that] to you? You follow Me."


strengthening the souls of the disciples, urging [them] to continue in the faith, [saying, "]Through many tribulations we must enter into the kingdom of God."


I now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up in my flesh what is lacking in the afflictions of Christ, for His body, which is the church,


that no one should be disturbed by these afflictions; for you yourselves know that we are appointed unto this.


Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.


For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving behind an example for you, that you should follow in His footsteps,
