23 And you, Capernaum, the [one] having been exalted to heaven, you will be brought down to Hades; because if the miracles which were done in you had been done in Sodom, it would have remained to this day.

And I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I shall build My church, and the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it.


When they had come to Capernaum, those who collected the temple tax came to Peter and said, "Does your Teacher not pay the temple tax?"


And leaving Nazareth behind, He came and settled down in Capernaum, which is by the sea, in the regions of Zebulun and Naphtali,


Now when He had entered Capernaum, a centurion approached Him, begging Him,


And you, Capernaum, who are exalted to heaven, will be brought down to Hades.


For everyone who exalts himself shall be humbled, and he who humbles himself shall be exalted."


And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham from afar, and Lazarus in his bosom.


He said to them, "You will surely say this proverb to Me, 'Physician, heal yourself! Whatever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in Your hometown.' "


Because You will not abandon my soul in Hades, nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption.


foreseeing [this], he spoke about the resurrection of the Christ, "that His soul was not left in Hades, nor did His flesh see corruption."


as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them in a similar manner to these, having given themselves over to fornication and having gone after other flesh, are set forth as an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.


I am He who lives, and became dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Death and of Hades.


And their corpse [will lie ]on the street of the great city which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also their Lord was crucified.


And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to their works.


And behold, a pale horse, and he who sat on it was named Death, and Hades was following him. And authority was given to him over a fourth of the earth, to kill with [the ]sword, and with famine, and with death, and by the wild beasts of the earth.
