From that time Jesus began to show to His disciples that He must go off to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and to be killed, and to be raised the third day.


Then they spat in His face, and beat Him with [their] fists; and they slapped [Him,]


saying, "Sir, we remember that that deceiver said while He was still alive, 'After three days I will rise.'


Then the high priest tore his clothes and said, "What further need do we have of witnesses?


Then some began to spit on Him, and to blindfold Him, and to beat Him with [their] fists, and to say to Him, "Prophesy!"And the attendants were striking Him with slaps [to the face.]


For He was teaching His disciples and said to them, "The Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of men, and they will kill Him. And after He is killed, He will rise on the third day."


Then Herod, with his men of war, having treated Him with contempt, and having mocked Him, arrayed Him in a gorgeous robe, and sent Him back to Pilate.


For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came to be through Jesus Christ.


and said to him, "Every man first sets out the good wine, and when they have well drunk, then the inferior. You have kept the good wine until now!"


and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,
