"O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, like a hen [gathers] her brood under her wings, but you were not willing!


But if we say, 'From men,' all the people will stone us, for they are persuaded [that] John was a prophet."


"Therefore to what shall I compare the men of this generation, and what are they like?


For I did not draw back from declaring to you the whole counsel of God.


But to Israel he says: "the whole day long I have stretched out My hands to a disobedient and obstinate people."


And working together [with Him,] we also urge that you not receive the grace of God in vain.


I do not annul the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died for nothing."


In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will,
