For just as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.


From that time Jesus began to show to His disciples that He must go off to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and to be killed, and to be raised the third day.


saying, "Sir, we remember that that deceiver said while He was still alive, 'After three days I will rise.'


He is not here! For He is risen, just as He said. Come; see the place where the Lord was lying.


But he said to them, "Do not be alarmed. You are seeking Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has arisen! He is not here! See the place where they put Him.


And He began to teach them that it was necessary for the Son of Man to suffer many things, and to be rejected by the elders and the chief priests and the scribes, and to be killed, and after three days to rise.


saying, "The Lord is risen indeed, and has appeared to Simon!"


Then, as they became afraid and bowed their faces to the ground, they said to them, "Why do you seek the living among the dead?


saying, "The Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and to be killed, and to be raised on the third day."


Let these words sink down into your ears, for the Son of Man is about to be betrayed into the hands of men."


whom God raised, [thus] doing away with the labor pains of death, because it was not possible for Him to be held by it.


Do you not remember that while I was still with you, I was telling you these things?
