When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, "Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord!"


Now having heard this, they were cut to the heart, and they said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, "Men and brothers, what shall we do?"


But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.


For behold this very thing, that you sorrowed in a godly manner, how much diligence it produced in you, even an eagerness to defend, even indignation, even fear, even longing, even zeal, even vengeance! In all things you demonstrated yourselves to be pure in this matter.


Faithful is this word, and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief.


Therefore let us come boldly to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.


For I will be merciful to their iniquities, and their sins and their lawless deeds I shall by no means remember anymore."
