But we were hoping that it was He who was going to redeem Israel. Indeed, besides all this, today is the third day since these things happened.


Work not for the food which perishes, but for the food which abides unto everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give to you; for [upon] Him God the Father has set [His] seal."


Brothers, do not be children in your understanding; rather, in malice be children, but in understanding be men.


Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord [is].


And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and all perception,


So then, my beloved, just as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling;


Finally, brothers, as many things as are true, as many as are honorable, as many as are just, as many as are pure, as many as are lovely-if there is any virtue and if there is any praise-meditate on these things.


On account of this we also, since the day we heard, do not cease praying for you, and asking that you may be filled with the full knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;


in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.


But without faith it is impossible to please [God], for it is necessary [for] the [one] approaching God to believe that He is, and that He becomes a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.


looking diligently lest anyone fall from the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness growing up cause trouble, and through this many be defiled;


But we desire that each one of you show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope until [the] end,


Husbands, likewise, live together according to knowledge as with a weaker vessel, with the wife, showing her honor as also a fellow heir of the grace of life, in order that your prayers may not be hindered.


Therefore, brothers, be even more diligent to make your calling and election sure, for by doing these things you shall by no means stumble at any time.


For in this way the entrance will be supplied to you richly into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.


Therefore, beloved, looking forward to these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot or blemish;


but grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him [be] the glory both now and forever. Amen.
