12 Late in the afternoon, the twelve apostles {\cf2\super [165]} came to Jesus and said, “No people live in this place. Send the people away. They need to find food and places to sleep in the farms and towns around here.”

I knew you in the desert—I knew you in that dry land.


When Jesus heard what happened to John, {\cf2\super [201]} Jesus left in a boat. Jesus went alone to a place where there were no people. But the people heard that Jesus left. So the people left their towns and followed Jesus. They went by land to the same place Jesus went.


But Jesus did not answer the woman. So the followers came to Jesus and begged him, “Tell the woman to go away. She is following us and shouting.”


Jesus called his followers to him and said, “I feel sorry for these people. They have been with me three days, and now they have nothing to eat. I don’t want to send them away hungry. They might faint while going home.”


But the people learned where Jesus went. They followed him. Jesus welcomed them and talked with them about God’s kingdom. He healed the people that were sick.


But Jesus said to the apostles, {\cf2\super [166]} “You give them something to eat.”


Later, Jesus went across Lake Galilee (Lake Tiberias).


You are praying for me, and the Spirit {\cf2\super [9]} of Jesus Christ helps me. So I know that this trouble will bring my freedom.
