The angel said to Lot, “Fine. I’ll let you do that. I won’t destroy that town.


Then the Lord God said to the woman,


O King, I give everything to you!” Araunah also said to the king, “May the Lord your God be pleased with you.”


Joram was from Ahab’s family. Ahaziah went with Joram to fight against Hazael king of Aram at Ramoth Gilead. The Arameans wounded Joram. King Joram went back to Israel so he could get well from those wounds. Joram went to the area of Jezreel. Ahaziah son of Jehoram was the king of Judah. Ahaziah went to Jezreel to see Joram.


You should put away the sin\par that is in your home.\par Don’t let evil live in your tent.\par


Then you could look to God without shame.\par You could stand strong and not be afraid.\par


I wish for the days when I was successful,\par and God was my close friend.\par In those days God blessed my home.\par


So now Eliphaz, get seven bulls and seven rams. Take them to my servant Job. Kill them and offer them as a burnt offering for yourselves. My servant Job will pray for you, and I will answer his prayer. Then I won’t give you the punishment that you deserve. You should be punished because you were very foolish. You didn’t say right things about me. But my servant Job said right things about me.”


\{You must be fair in judging people.\} If you let guilty people go free then you are not being fair to good people.


The Lord is not happy when evil people offer him sacrifices, especially when those evil people are trying to get something from him.


Jeremiah, look toward the north and speak this message:


\{The Lord says,\}\par “Why do you bring me incense {\cf2\super [43]} \par from the country of Sheba? {\cf2\super [44]} \par Why do you bring me sweet-smelling cane from a far away country?\par Your burnt offerings don’t make\par me happy.\par Your sacrifices don’t please me.”\par


There is no God like you.\par You take away people’s guilt.\par


“Surely, some of you priests could close the temple doors and light the fires correctly. I am not pleased with you. I will not accept your gifts.” The Lord All-Powerful said these things.


And you don’t like the food from that table. You smell the food and refuse to eat it. You say it is bad. \{But that is not true.\} Then you bring sick, crippled, and hurt animals to me. You try to give sick animals to me as sacrifices. But I will not accept those sick animals from you.


You bring blind animals as sacrifices. {\cf2\super [6]} And that is wrong! You bring sick and crippled animals for sacrifices. And that is wrong! Try giving those sick animals as a gift to your governor. Would he accept those sick animals? No! He would not accept those gifts!” The Lord All-Powerful said these things!


But if you don’t do these things, then you will be sinning against the Lord. And know for sure that you will be punished for your sin.


And God accepts any person who worships him and does what is right. It is not important what country a person comes from.


So brothers and sisters, I beg you to do something. God has shown us great mercy. So offer your lives as a living sacrifice {\cf2\super [130]} to God. Your offering must be only for God and will be pleasing to him. This offering of yourselves is the spiritual way for you to worship (serve) God.


Any person who serves Christ by living this way is pleasing God. And that person will be accepted by other people.


to be a minister of Christ Jesus. God made me a minister to help the non-Jewish people. I serve God by teaching his Good News. {\cf2\super [151]} I do this so that the non-Jewish people may be an offering that God will accept. Those people are made holy {\cf2\super [152]} for God by the Holy Spirit. {\cf2\super [153]}


But don’t let sin control you in your life here on earth. You must not be ruled by the things your sinful self makes you want to do.


Surely you know that when you give yourselves like slaves to obey someone, then you are really slaves of that person. The person you obey is your master. You can follow sin, or obey God. Sin brings spiritual death. But obeying God makes you right with him.


And this brings praise to God because of his wonderful grace (kindness). God gave that grace to us freely. He gave us that grace in \{Christ,\} the One he loves.


But if a widow has children or grandchildren, the first thing they need to learn is this: to show respect for their own family \{by helping their parents\}. When they do this, they will be repaying their parents or grandparents. That pleases God.


Cain and Abel both offered sacrifices {\cf2\super [143]} to God. But Abel offered a better sacrifice to God because Abel had faith. God said he was pleased with the things Abel offered. And so God called Abel a good man because Abel had faith. Abel died, but through his faith he is still speaking.


This desire causes sin. Then the sin grows and brings death.


You also are like living stones. God is using you to build a spiritual temple. {\cf2\super [14]} You are to serve God in that temple as holy {\cf2\super [15]} priests. You are to give spiritual sacrifices {\cf2\super [16]} to God that he will accept because of Jesus Christ.
