David was upset because the Lord had killed Uzzah. David called that place “Perez Uzzah.” [40] That place is still called Perez Uzzah today.


The Lord became very angry at Uzzah. The Lord killed Uzzah because he touched the Box. So Uzzah died there in front of God.


The last time we did not ask the Lord how to carry the Box of the Agreement. You Levites did not carry it, and that is why the Lord punished us.”


Then David said, “Only the Levites {\cf2\super [152]} are permitted to carry the Box of the Agreement. The Lord chose them to carry the Box of the Agreement and to serve him forever.”


Whenever the Holy Tent is moved, the men of Levi must do it. Whenever the Holy Tent is set up, the men of Levi must do it. They are the men who will take care of the Holy Tent. If any person who is not from Levi’s family group tries to take care of the tent, he must be killed.

About ten days later, the Lord caused Nabal to die.


But there were no priests [80] there, and the men of Beth Shemesh looked at the Holy Box of the Lord. So God killed 70 men from Beth Shemesh. The people of Beth Shemesh cried because the Lord punished them so severely.
