And Joas said to the priests: O All the money of the sanctified things, which is brought into the temple of the Lord by those that pass, which is offered for the price of a soul, and which of their own accord, and of their own free heart they bring into the temple of the Lord:


8 And Joiada appointed overseers in the house of the Lord, under the hands of the priests, and the Levites, whom David had distributed in the house of the Lord: to offer holocausts to the Lord, as it is written in the law of Moses, with joy and singing, according to the disposition of David.


And he assembled the priests, and the Levites, and said to them: Go out to the cities of Juda, and gather of all Israel money to repair the temple of your God, from year to year: and do this with speed: but the Levites were negligent.


The land, out of which bread grew in its place, hath been overturned with fire.


4 And the people murmured against Moses, saying: What shall we drink?


8 The wicked maketh an unsteady work: but to him that soweth justice, there is a faithful reward.


9 He that tilleth his ground, shall be filled with bread: but he that followeth idleness shall be filled with poverty.


The just taketh notice of the cause of the poor: the wicked is void of knowledge.


If a wise man contend with a fool, whether he be angry or laugh, he shall find no rest.


6 Because the spoiler is come upon her, that is, upon Babylon, and her valiant men are taken, and their bow is weakened, because the Lord, who is a strong revenger, will surely repay.


For they and all their flocks came with their tents, and like locusts filled all places, an innumerable multitude of men, and of camels, wasting whatsoever they touched.
