Thou knowest the will of David my father, and that he could not build a house to the name of the Lord his God, because of the wars that were round about him, until the Lord put them under the soles of his feet.


My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother :


The ransom of a man's life are his riches: but he that is poor beareth not reprehension.


7 He that is greedy of gain troubleth his own house: but he that hateth bribes shall live. By mercy and faith sins are purged away: and by the fear of the Lord every one declineth from evil.

8 He that keepeth the fig tree, shall eat the fruit thereof: and he that is the keeper of his master, shall be glorified.


2 A passionate man provoketh quarrels: and he that is easily stirred up to wrath, shall be more prone to sin.


4 He that is partaker with a thief, hateth his own soul: he heareth one putting him to his oath, and discovereth not.


0 Bloodthirsty men hate the upright: but just men seek his soul.


Smelling sweet of the best ointments. Thy name is as oil poured out: therefore young maidens have loved thee.


6 God hath given to a man that is good in his sight, wisdom, and knowledge, and joy: but to the sinner he hath given vexation, and superfluous care, to heap up and to gather together, and to give it to him that hath pleased God: but this also is vanity, and a fruitless solicitude of the mind.
