1 And Roboam the son of Solomon reigned in Juda: Roboam was one and forty years old when he began to reign: and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem the city, which the Lord chose out of all the tribes of Israel to put his name there. And his mother's name wee Naama an Ammonitess.


And the word of the Lord came to him, saying:


3 And he treated about trees from the cedar that is in Libanus, unto the hyssop that cometh out of the wall: and he discoursed of beasts, and of fowls, and of creeping things, and of fishes.


4 And he did that which was evil before the Lord. He departed not from all the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nabat, who made Israel to sin.


2 But if you say to me: We trust in the Lord our God: is it not he, whose high places and altars Ezechias hath taken away: and hath commanded Juda and Jerusalem: You shall worship before this altar in Jerusalem?


3 But the rest of the acts of Joram, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the words of the days of the kings of Juda?


4 Leaving their suburbs, and their possessions, and passing over to Juda, and Jerusalem, because Jeroboam and his sons had cast them off, from executing the priestly office to the Lord.


4 Who is there among all the gods of the nations, which my fathers have destroyed, that could deliver his people out of my hand, that your God should be able to deliver you out of this hand?


6 She is hardened against her young ones, as though they were not hers, she hath laboured in vain, no fear constraining her.


4 And I said to them: Which of you hath any gold? and they took and brought it to me: and I cast it into the fire, and this calf came out.


And justice shall be the girdle of his loins: and faith the girdle of his reins.


0 And am I now come up without the Lord against this land to destroy it? The Lord said to me: Go up against this land, and destroy it.


6 O Lord of hosts, God of Israel, who sittest upon the cherubims, thou alone art the God of all the kingdoms of the earth, thou hast made heaven and earth.


6 And when you shall be multiplied, and increase in the land in those days, saith the Lord, they shall say no more: The ark of the covenant of the Lord: neither shall it come upon the heart, neither shall they remember it, neither shall it be visited, neither shall that be done any more.


5 And you turned to day, and did that which was right in my eyes, in proclaiming liberty every one to his brother: and you made a covenant in my sight, in the house upon which my name is invocated.


Wherefore a lion out of the wood hath slain them, a wolf in the evening, hath spoiled them, a leopard watcheth for their cities: every one that shall go out thence shall be taken, because their transgressions are multiplied, their rebellions are strengthened.


9 For she multiplied her fornications, remembering the days of her youth, in which she played the harlot in the land of Egypt.


3 A tumult of chariots hath astonished the inhabitants of Lachis: it is the beginning of sin to the daughter of Sion, for in thee were found the crimes of Israel.


And the Lord said to Josue: Fear them not: for I have delivered them into thy hands: none of them shall be able to stand against thee.


4 And Ceila and Achzib and Maresa: nine cities, and their villages.


3 And I will kill her children with death, and all the churches shall know that I am he that searcheth the reins and hearts, and I will give to every one of you according to your works. But to you I say,


9 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith to the churches.
