And the word of the Lord came to me the second time, saying:


For who shall have pity on thee, O Jerusalem? or who shall bemoan thee? or who shall go to pray for thy peace?


8 They ways, and thy devices have brought these things upon thee: this is thy wickedness, because it is bitter, because it hath touched thy heart.


Thus saith the Lord of hosts the God of Israel: Make your ways and your doings good: and I will dwell with you in this place.


9 Behold the voice of the daughter my people from a far country: Is not the Lord in Sion, or is not her king in her? why then have they provoked me to wrath with their idols, and strange vanities?


And he said to me: Son of man, dost thou see, thinkest thou, what these are doing, the great abominations that the house of Israel committeth here, that I should depart far off from my sanctuary? and turn thee yet again and thou shalt see greater abominations.


In that day a parable shall be taken up upon you, and a song shall be sung with melody by them that say: We are laid waste and spoiled: the portion of my people is changed: how shall he depart from me, whereas he is returning that will divide our land?


2 And we beseech you, brethren, to know them who labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you:
