4 And I will bring thy enemies out of a land, which thou knowest not: for a fire is kindled in my rage, it shall burn upon you.


8 Let them be confounded that persecute me, and let not me be confounded: let them be afraid, and let not me be afraid: bring upon them the day of affliction, and with a double destruction, destroy them.


For I am speaking now this long time, crying out against iniquity, and I often proclaim devistation: and the word of the Lord is made a reproach to me, and a derision all the day.


1 And thou shalt say to them: Thus saith the Lord of hosts: even so will I break this people, and this city, as the potter's vessel is broken, which cannot be made whole again: and they shall be buried in Topheth, because there is no other place to bury in.


And many nations shall pass by this city: and they shall say every man to his neighbor: Why hath the Lord done so to this great city?


Therefore behold the days to come, saith the Lord, and they shall say no more: The Lord liveth, who brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt:


7 And now why hast thou not rebuked Jeremias the Anathothite, who prophesieth to you?


2 For my foolish people have not known me: they are foolish and senseless children: they are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge.


4 I looked upon the mountains, and behold they trembled: and all the hills were troubled.


2 A full wind from these places shall come to me: and now I will speak my judgments with them.


My people have been a lost flock, their shepherds have caused them to go astray, and have made them wander in the mountains: they have gone from mountain to hill, they have forgotten their resting place.


8 Therefore hear, ye nations, and know, O congregation, what great things I will do to them.


6 Gird thee with sackcloth, O daughter of my people, and sprinkle thee with ashes: make thee mourning as for an only son, a bitter lamentation, because the destroyer shall suddenly come upon us.


3 Gathering I will gather them together, saith the Lord, there is no grape on the vines, and there are no figs on the fig tree, the leaf is fallen: and I have given them the things that are passed away.


7 For behold I will send among you serpents, basilisks, against which there is no charm: and they shall bite you, saith the Lord.


9 O Lord, hear: O Lord, be appeased: hearken and do: delay not for thy own sake, O my God: because thy name is invocated upon thy city, and upon thy people.


The sword hath begun in his cities, and it shall consume his chosen men, and sha.ll devour their heads.


4 I will not visit upon your daughters when they shell commit fornication, and upon your spouses when they shall commit adultery: because themselves conversed with harlots, and offered sacrifice with the effeminate, and the people that doth not understand shall be beaten.


2 And you will present wine to the Nazarites: and command the prophets, saying: Prophesy not.


0 Declare ye it not in Geth, weep ya not with tears: in the house of Dust sprinkle yourselves with dust.


0 As yet there is a fire in the house of the wicked, the treasures of iniquity, and a scant measure full of wrath.


He cometh therefore to Simon Peter. And Peter saith to him: Lord, dost thou wash my feet?


0 And Philip running thither, heard him reading the prophet Isaias. And he said: Thinkest thou that thou understandest what thou readest?


And the Lord shall do to them as he did to Sehon and Og the kings of the Amorrhites, and to their land, and shall destroy them.


Is this the return thou makest to the Lord, O foolish and senseless people? Is not he thy father, that hath possessed thee, and made thee, and created thee?


1 Because the Lord thy God is a merciful God: he will not leave thee, nor altogether destroy thee, nor forget the covenant, by which he swore to thy fathers.


8 And Samuel said to him: The Lord hath rent the kingdom of Israel from thee this day, and hath given it to thy neighbour who is better than thee.


1 So Samuel turned again after Saul: and Saul adored the Lord.
