Thou who preparest the mountains by thy strength, being girded with power:


0 Say ye among the Gentiles, the Lord hath reigned. For he hath corrected the world, which shall not be moved: he will judge the people with justice.


The Lord hath made known his salvation: he hath revealed his justice in the sight of the Gentiles.


Howl ye, for the day of the Lord is near: it shall come as a destruction from the Lord.


0 For the stars of heaven, and their brightness shall not display their light: the sun shall be darkened in his rising, and the moon shall not shine with her light.


7 And the residue of the number of strong archers of the children of Cedar shall be diminished: for the Lord the God of Israel hath spoken it.

4 Assemble yourselves together, all you, and hear: who among them hath declared these things? the Lord hath loved him, he will do his pleasure in Babylon, and his arm shall be on the Chaldeans.


9 Woe is me for my destruction, my wound is very grievous. But I said: Truly this is my own evil, and I will bear it.


3 I know, O Lord, that the way of a man is not his: neither is it in a man to walk, and to direct his steps.


8 Hearing I heard Ephraim when he went into captivity: thou hast chastised me, and I was instructed, as a young bullock unaccustomed to the yoke. Convert me, and I shall be converted, for thou art the Lord my God.


4 I looked upon the mountains, and behold they trembled: and all the hills were troubled.


4 Wash thy heart from wickedness, O Jerusalem, that thou mayst be saved: how long shall hurtful thoughts abide in thee?


2 Her voice shall sound like brass, for they shall hasten with an army, and with axes they shall come against her, as hewers of wood.


Babylon is suddenly fallen, and destroyed: howl for her, take balm for her pain, if so she may be healed.


0 Thou dashest together for me the weapons of war, and with thee I will dash nations together, and with thee I will destroy kingdoms:


5 The wrong done to me, and my flesh be upon Babylon, saith the habitation of Sion : and my blood upon the inhabitants of Chaldea, saith Jerusalem.


9 In their heat I will set them drink: and I will make them drunk, that they may slumber, and sleep an everlasting sleep, and awake no more, saith the Lord.


2 Therefore behold the days come, saith the Lord, and I will visit her graven things, and in all her land the wounded shall groan:


5 Because the Lord hath laid Babylon waste, and destroyed out of her the great voice: and their wave shall roar like many waters: their voice hath made a noise:


0 And Jeremias wrote in one book all the evil that was to come upon Babylon: all these words that are written against Babylon.


6 When he uttereth his voice the waters are multiplied in heaven: he lifteth up the clouds from the ends of the earth, he hath turned lightning into rain: and hath brought forth the wind out of his treasures.


He. Her adversaries are become her lords, her enemies are enriched: because the Lord hath spoken against her for the multitude of her iniquities: her children are led into captivity: before the face of the oppressor.


6 Gird thee with sackcloth, O daughter of my people, and sprinkle thee with ashes: make thee mourning as for an only son, a bitter lamentation, because the destroyer shall suddenly come upon us.


0 And the prince of the eunuchs said to Daniel: I fear my lord the king, who hath appointed you meat and drink: who if he should see your faces leaner than those of the other youths your equals, you shall endanger my head to the king.


2 For the king's commandment was urgent, and the furnace was heated exceedingly. And the flame of the fire slew those men that had cast in Sidrach, Misach, and Abdenago.


Her prophets are senseless men without faith: her priests have polluted the sanctuary, they have acted unjustly against the law.


1 And the merchants of the earth shall weep, and mourn over her: for no man shall buy their merchandise any more.
