And I will defeat the counsel of Juda and of Jerusalem in this place: and I will destroy them with the sword in the sight of their enemies, and by the hands of them that seek their lives: and I will give their carcasses to be meat for the fowls of the air, and for the beasts of the earth.


6 That their land might be given up to desolation, and to a perpetual hissing: every one that shall pass by it, shall be astonished, and wag his head.


2 If they stood in my counsel, and had made my words known to my people, I should have turned them from their evil way and from their wicked doings.


1 And Joakim, and all his men in power, and his princes heard these words: and the king sought to put him to death. And Urias heard it, and was afraid, and fled and went into Egypt.


7 For thus saith the Lord: All the land shall be desolate, but yet I will not utterly destroy.


4 Nun. They have wandered as blind men in the streets, they were defiled with blood: and when they could not help walking in it, they held up their skirts.


0 Return into thy sheath. I will judge thee in the place wherein thou wast created, in the land of thy nativity.


And my people shall long for my return: but a yoke shall be put upon them together, which shall not be taken off.


And he prevailed over the angel, and was strengthened: he wept, and made supplication to him: he found him in Bethel, and there he spoke with us.


His branches shall spread, and his glory shall be as the olive tree: and his smell as that of Libanus.


They bruise the heads of the poor upon the dust of the earth, and turn aside the way of the humble: and the son and his father have gone to the same young woman, to profane my holy name.


0 It is I that brought you up out of the land of Egypt, and I led you forty years through the wilderness, that you might possess the land of the Amorrhite.


Seek ye the Lord, and live: lest the house of Joseph be burnt with fire, and it shall devour, and there shall be none to quench Bethel.


And he prayed to the Lord, and said: I beseech thee, O Lord, is not this what I said, when I was yet in my own country? therefore I went before to flee into Tharsis: for I know that thou art a gracious and merciful God, patient, and of much compassion, and easy to forgive evil.


0 And the Lord said: Thou art grieved for the ivy, for which thou hast not laboured, nor made it to grow, which in one night came up, and in one night perished.


And the sea coast shall be the resting place of shepherds, and folds for cattle:


She hath not hearkened to the voice, neither hath she received discipline: she hath not trusted in the Lord, she drew not near to her God.


7 Who said to them: Wheresoever the body shall be, thither will the eagles also be gathered together.


7 Therefore the wrath of the Lord was kindled against this land, to bring upon it all the curses that are written in this volume :


8 And he hath cast them out of their land, in anger and in wrath, and in very great indignation, and hath thrown them into a strange land, as it is seen this day.


5 Leaving the right way they have gone astray, having followed the way of Balaam of Bosor, who loved the wages of iniquity,


6 These are murmurers, full of complaints, walking according to their own desires, and their mouth speaketh proud things, admiring persons for gain's sake.
