19 How long shall the land mourn, and the herb of every field wither for the wickedness of them that dwell therein? The beasts and the birds are consumed: because they have said: He shall not see our last end.

4 Wise men lay up knowledge: but the mouth of the fool is next to confusion.


2 For their destruction shall rise suddenly: and who knoweth the ruin of both?

5 Until the spirit be poured upon us from on high: and the desert shall be se a charmel, and charmel shall be counted for a forest.


9 The living, the living, he shall give praise to thee, as I do this day: the father shall make thy truth known to the children.


The priests did not say: Where is the Lord? and they that held the law knew me not, and the pastors transgressed against me: and the prophets prophesied in Baal, and followed idols.


And thou shalt say: Hear the word of the Lord, O ye kings of Juda, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem: Thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold I will bring an affliction upon this place: so that whoever shall hear it, his ears shall tingle:


8 Why came I out of the womb, to see labour and sorrow, and that my days should be spent in confusion?


6 Then the princes, and all the people said to the priests, and to the prophets: There is no judgement of death for this man: for he hath spoken to us in the name of the Lord our God.


Beth. The noble sons of Sion, and they that were clothed with the best gold: how are they esteemed as earthen vessels, the work of the potter's hands?


2 Because I have spread my terror in the land of the living, and he hath slept in the midst of the uncircumcised with them that are slain by the sword: Pharao and all his multitude, saith the Lord God.


And I Daniel alone saw the vision: for the men that were with me saw it not: but an exceeding great terror fell upon them, and they fled away, and hid themselves.


6 Ephraim is struck, their root is dried up, they shall yield no fruit. And if they should have issue, I will slay the best beloved fruit of their womb.


9 As the Lord had commanded Moses. And they were numbered in the desert of Sinai.
