2 And thou gavest them kingdoms, and nations, and didst divide lots for them: and they possessed the land of Sehon, and the land of the king of Hesebon, and the land of Og king of Basan.


And thou didst find his heart faithful before thee: and thou madest a covenant with him, to give him the land of the Chanaanite, of the Hethite, and of the Amorrhite, and of the Pherezite, and of the Jebusite, and of the Gergezite, to give it to his seed: and thou hast fulfilled thy words, because thou art just.


2 For I know not how long I shall continue, and whether after a while my Maker may take me away.


6 As vinegar to the teeth, and smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to them that sent him.


0 Among the proud there are always contentions: but they that do all things with counsel, are ruled by wisdom.


4 The crown of the wise is their riches: the folly of fools, imprudence.


A mild answer breaketh wrath: but a harsh word stirreth up fury.


5 The Lord will destroy the house of the proud: and will strengthen the borders of the widow.


The way of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord: he that followeth justice is beloved by him.


Children's children are the crown of old men: and the glory of children are their fathers.


1 A fool is born to his own disgrace: and even his father shall not rejoice in a fool.


The lips of a fool intermeddle with strife: and his mouth provoketh quarrels.


0 Of the fruit of a man's mouth shall his belly be satisfied: and the offspring of his lips shall fill him.


Riches make many friends: but from the poor man, even they whom he had, depart.


8 Chastise thy son, despair not: but to the killing of him set not thy soul.


6 He that afflicteth his father, and chaseth away his mother, is infamous and unhappy.

2 And the angel said to him: Why beatest thou thy ass these three times? I am come to withstand thee, because thy way is perverse, and contrary to me:


0 And if thy right hand scandalize thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is expedient for thee that one of thy members should perish, rather than that thy whole body be cast into hell.


AND as he was going out of the temple, one of his disciples said to him: Master, behold what manner of stones and what buildings are here.


0 But that you may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (he saith to the sick of the palsy,)


And when she hath found it, call together her friends and neighbours, saying: Rejoice with me, because I have found the groat which I had lost.


And Jesus said to them: Neither do I tell thee by what authority I do these things.

He, when he had seen Peter and John about to go into the temple, asked to receive an alms.


But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not so much as be named among you, as becometh saints:


For you were heretofore darkness, but now light in the Lord. Walk then as children of the light.


4 Knowing that you shall receive of the Lord the reward of inheritance. Serve ye the Lord Christ.


7 All whatsoever you do in word or in work, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.


And we sent Timothy, our brother, and the minister of God in the gospel of Christ, to confirm you and exhort you concerning your faith:


5 But he that hath looked into the perfect law of liberty, and hath continued therein, not becoming a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work; this man shall be blessed in his deed.


1 For the sun rose with a burning heat, and parched the grass, and the flower thereof fell off, and the beauty of the shape thereof perished: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways.


If then you fulfil the royal law, according to the scriptures, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself; you do well.


0 And whosoever shall keep the whole law, but offend in one point, is become guilty of all.


4 What shall it profit, my brethren, if a man say he hath faith, but hath not works? Shall faith be able to save him?


From whence are wars and contentions among you? Are they not hence, from your concupiscences, which war in your members?


Your gold and silver is cankered: and the rust of them shall be for a testimony against you, and shall eat your flesh like fire. You have stored up to yourselves wrath against the last days.


Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers dispersed through Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, elect,


Whom having not seen, you love: in whom also now, though you see him not, you believe: and believing shall rejoice with joy unspeakable and glorified;


Behold what manner of charity the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called, and should be the sons of God. Therefore the world knoweth not us, because it knew not him.
