5 Then Josaphat came, and all the people with him to take away the spoils of the dead, and they found among the dead bodies, stuff of various kinds, and garments, and most precious vessels: and they took them for themselves, insomuch that they could not carry all, nor in three days take away the spoils, the booty was so great.


3 Know you not what I and my fathers have done to all the people of the lands? have the gods of any nations and lands been able to deliver their country out of my hand?


4 The earth is given into the hand of the wicked, he covereth the face of the judges thereof: and if it be not he, who is it then?


The Lord hath done great things for us: we are become joyful.


He bowed the heavens, and came down: and darkness was under his feet.


Come and behold ye the works of the Lord: what wonders he hath done upon earth,


They will dwell and hide themselves: they will watch my heel. As they have waited for my soul,


If I have remembered thee upon my bed, I will meditate on thee in the morning:


For thy mercy is better than lives: thee my lips shall praise.


Thus will I bless thee all my life long: and in thy name I will lift up my hands.


4 which my lips have uttered, And my mouth hath spoken, when I was in trouble.


How long shall sinners, O Lord: how long shall sinners glory?


The noise of a multitude in the mountains, as it were of many people, the noise of the sound of kings, of nations gathered together: the Lord of hosts hath given charge to the troops of war.


For thus saith the Lord to me: I will take my rest, and consider in my place, as the noon light is clear, and as a cloud of dew in the day of harvest.


For thus saith the Lord to me: Like as the lion roareth, and the lion's whelp upon his prey, and when a multitude of shepherds shall come against him, he will not fear at their voice, nor be afraid of their multitude: so shall the Lord of hosts come down to fight upon mount Sion, and upon the hill thereof.


0 For after days and a year, you that are confident shall be troubled: for the vintage is at an end, the gathering shall come no more.


6 Part of it he burnt with fire, and with part of it he dressed his meat: he boiled pottage, and was filled, and was warmed, and said: Aha, I am warm, I have seen the fire.


5 In the Lord shall all the seed of Israel be justified and praised.


They bear him on their shoulders and carry him, and set him in his piece, and he shall stand, and shall not stir out of his place. Yea, when they shall cry also unto him, he shall not hear: he shall not save them from tribulation.


Hearken to me, you that know what is just, my people who have my law in your heart: fear ye not the reproach of men, and be not afraid of their blasphemies.


3 And thou hast forgotten the Lord thy maker, who stretched out the heavens, and founded the earth: and thee hast been afraid continually all the day at the presence of his fury who afflicted thee, and had prepared himself to destroy thee: where is now the fury of the oppressor?


In all their affliction he was not troubled, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love, and in his mercy he redeemed them, and he carried them and lifted them up all the days of old.


5 He answered, and said: Behold I see four men loose, and walking in the midst of the fire, and there is no hurt in them, and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.


Then I set forth a decree, that all the wise men of Babylon should be brought in before me, and that they should shew me the interpretation of the dream.


And John was clothed with camel's hair, and a leathern girdle about his loins; and he ate locusts and wild honey.


1 For where thy treasure is, there is thy heart also.


0 And he said: I will hide my face from them, and will consider what their last end shall be: for it is a perverse generation, and unfaithful children.


But the Lord's portion is his people: Jacob the lot of his inheritance.


And the south part, and the breadth of the plain of Jericho the city of palm trees as far as Segor.


2 The brethren who are with me, salute you. All the saints salute you; especially they that are of Caesar's household.


The Lord maketh poor and maketh rich, he humbleth and he exalteth.
