Then the word of the Lord came to Jehu the son of Hanani against Baasa, saying :


2 And they worshipped abominations, concerning which the Lord had commanded them that they should not do this thing.


1 Therefore deliver up their children to famine, and bring them into the hands of the sword: let their wives be bereaved of children and widows: and let their husbands be slain by death: let their young men be stabbed with the sword in battle.


2 If they stood in my counsel, and had made my words known to my people, I should have turned them from their evil way and from their wicked doings.


4 Return, O ye revolting children, saith the Lord: for I am your husband: and I will take you, one of a city, and two of a kindred, and will bring you into Sion.


3 And I saw that she was defiled, and that they both took one way.


5 And girded with girdles about their reins, and with dyed turbans on their heads, the resemblance of all the captains, the likeness of the sons of Babylon, and of the land of the Chaldeans wherein they were born,


9 The wind hath bound them up in its wings, and they shall be confounded because of their sacrifices.


Hear ye this, O priests, and hearken, O ye house of Israel, and give ear, O house of the king: for there is a judgment against you, because you have been a snare to them whom you should have watched over, and a net spread upon Thabor.


With their flocks, and with their herds, they shall go to seek the Lord, and shall not find him: he is withdrawn from them.


1 Ephraim is under oppression, and broken in judgment: because he began to go after filthiness.
