5 Thou art thy mother's daughter, that cast off her husband, and her children: and thou art the sister of thy sisters, who cast off their husbands, and their children: your mother was a Cethite, and your father an Amorrhite.

Take the fattest of the flock, and lay together piles of bones under it: the seething thereof is boiling hot, and the bones thereof are thoroughly sodden in the midst of it.


7 And when the sons of Babylon were come to her to the bed of love, they defiled her with their fornications, and she was polluted by them, and her soul was glutted with them.


And I will throw down your altars, and your idols shall be broken in pieces: and I will cast down your slain before your idols.


As they called them, they went away from before their face: they offered victims to Baalim, and sacrificed to idols.


Blow ye the cornet in Gabaa, the trumpet in Rama: howl ye in Bethaven, behind thy back, O Benjamin.


7 Ephraim is a partaker with idols, let him alone.


For they are gone up to Assyria, a wild ass alone by himself: Ephraim hath given gifts to his lovers.


They shall not offer wine to the Lord, neither shall they please him: their sacrifices shall be like the bread of mourners: all that shall eat it shall be defiled: for their bread is life for their soul, it shall not enter into the house of the Lord.


5 Then the Pharisees going, consulted among themselves how to insnare him in his speech.


8 The Lord shall bring thee again with ships into Egypt, by the way whereof he said to thee that thou shouldst see it no more. There shalt thou be set to sale to thy enemies for bondmen and bondwomen, and no man shall buy you.
