Then Joseph went in and told Pharao, saying: My father and brethren, their sheep and their herds, and all that they possess, are come out of the land of Chanaan: and behold they stay in the land of Gessen.


Five men also the last of his brethren, he presented before the king:


3 For in the whole world there was want of bread, and a famine had op- pressed the land: more especially of Egypt and Chanaan.


The king therefore said to Joseph: Thy father and thy brethren are come to thee.


After this Joseph brought in his to the king, and presented him before him: and he blessed him.


And when the days of their feasting were gone about, Job sent to them, and sanctified them: and rising up early offered holocausts for every one of them. For he said: Lest perhaps my sons have sinned, and have blessed God in their hearts. So did Job all days.


4 And the Lord did so. And there came a very grievous swarm of flies into he houses of Pharao and of his servants, and into all the land of Egypt: and the land was corrupted by this kind of flies.


9 Moses said: As soon as I am gone out of the city, I will stretch forth my hands to the Lord, and the thunders shall cease, and the hail shall be no more: that thou mayst know that the earth is the Lord's.


As soon therefore as he had said to them: I am he; they went backward, and fell to the ground.


2 And Moses was instructed in all the wisdom of the Egyptians; and he was mighty in his words and in his deeds.
