1 And when he had made the camels lie down without the town near a well of water in Evening, at the time when women were wont to come out to draw water, he said:


4 Now, therefore, the maid to whom I shall say: Let down thy pitcher that I may drink: and she shall answer, Drink, and I will give thy camels drink also: let it be the same whom thou hast provided for thy servant Isaac: and by this I shall understand, that thou hast shown kindness to my master.


3 Behold I stand by the well of water, and the virgin, that shall come out to draw water, who shall hear me say: Give me a little water to drink of thy pitcher:


2 The sinner shall watch the just man : and shall gnash upon him with his teeth.


8 And when they returned to Raguel their father, he said to them: Why are ye come sooner than usual?


3 Blessed is the man that findeth wisdom and is rich in prudence:


5 The woman saith to him: Sir, give me this water, that I may not thirst, nor come hither to draw.


6 Why dwellest thou between two borders, that thou mayest hear the bleatings of the flocks? Ruben being divided against himself, there was found a strife of courageous men.


6 To morrow about this same hour I will send thee a man of the land of Benjamin, and thou shalt anoint him to be ruler over my people Israel: and he shall save my people out of the hand of the Philistines: for I have looked down upon my people, because their cry is come to me.
