8 If then thou wilt hearken to all that I shall command thee, and wilt walk in my ways, and do what is right before me, keeping my commandments and my precepts, as David my servant did: I will be with thee, and will build thee up a faithful house, as I built a house for David, and I will deliver Israel to thee:


3 And Solomon slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David his father, and Roboam his son reigned in his stead.


Thy father laid a grievous yoke upon us: now therefore do thou take off a little of the grievous service of thy father, and of his most heavy yoke, which he put upon us, and we will serve thee.


1 The Lord therefore said to Solomon: Because thou hast done this, and hast not kept my covenant, and my precepts, which I have commanded thee, I will divide and rend thy kingdom, and will give it to thy servant.


4 And the Lord raised up an adversary to Solomon, Adad the Edomite of the king's seed, in Edom.


6 And he took away the treasures of the house of the Lord, and the king's treasures, and carried all off: as also the shields of gold which Solomon had made.


9 There is a league between me and thee, and between my father and thy father: therefore I have sent thee presents of silver and gold: and I desire thee to come, and break thy league with Baasa king of Israel, that he may depart from me.


And Abiam slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city of David, and Asa his son reigned in his stead.


And thy servant is in the midst of the people which thou hast chosen, an immense people, which cannot be numbered nor counted for multitude.


The floor that was underneath, was five cubits in breadth, and the middle floor was six cubits in breadth, and the third door was seven cubits in breadth. And he put beams in the house round about on the outside, that they might not be fastened in the walls of the temple.


6 And on the eighth day he sent away the people: and they blessed the king, and went to their dwellings rejoicing, and glad in heart for all the good things that the Lord had done for David his servant, and for Israel his people.


5 This is the sum of the expenses, which king Solomon offered to build the house of the Lord, and his own house, and Mello, and the wall of Jerusalem, and Heser, and Mageddo, and Gazer.


And they shall answer: Because they forsook the Lord their God, who brought their fathers out of the land of Egypt, and followed strange gods, and adored them, and worshipped them: therefore hath the Lord brought upon them all this evil.


And Ezechias had said to Isaias: What shall be the sign that the Lord will heal me, and that I shall go up to the temple of the Lord the third day?


4 Gold by weight for every vessel for the ministry. And silver by weight ac- cording to the diversity of the vessels and uses.


4 And all the princes, and men of power, and all the sons of king David gave their hand, and were subject to Solomon the king.


And with them the Levites, Semeias, end Nathanias, and Zabadias, and Asael, and Semiramoth, and Jonathan, and Adonias, and Tobias, and Thobadonias Levites, and with them Elisama, and Joram priests.


But a man of God came to him, and said: O king, let not the army of Israel go out with thee, for the Lord is not with Israel, and all the children of Ephraim:


And when he had destroyed the altars, and the groves, and had broken the idols in pieces, and had demolished all profane temples throughout all the ]and of Israel, he returned to Jerusalem.


And shewing mercy unto thousands to them that love me, and keep my commandments.


And they shall receive nothing else. of the possession of their brethren: for the Lord himself is their inheritance, as he hath said to them.


And thou shalt know that the Lord thy God, he is a strong and faithful God, keeping his covenant and mercy to them that love him, and to them that keep his commandments, unto a thousand generations:
